7 Surprising Ways to Use Himalayan Salt

Health benefits and uses of himalayan salt

Health benefits and uses of himalayan salt

Chances are, you have probably heard about Himalayan Salt. This salt has become well known throughout the world and for good reason! There are many surprising ways to use Himalayan Salt – some of them, you probably wouldn’t even believe. For centuries, people have been taking advantage of its many different uses. While some are using it in their kitchens as they would traditional salt, others are using it for something totally different …

    Why Himalayan Salt?

Table salt has been bleached and stripped of all of its minerals and your body knows it. Sea salts are becoming more populated than ever before as more toxins are flowing into the ocean. Real salt, the salt that is mined from ancient sea beds, offers at least 60 different minerals and it hasn’t been tainted by toxins. Himalayan salt, like real salt, is mined from sea beds, so it is untouched by modern toxins.

Himalayan Salt is the purest salt you’re ever going to find – there are absolutely no chemicals, pollutants or toxins in it. It also has a flavor like no other salt and due to the fact that there are 84 natural mineral and other elements commonly found in our bodies, there’s a wide array of health benefits nesting behind it.

    1. Great for Detoxing

If you are due for a good detox, you’re going to want to hear this one. Water is the most important thing needed for detoxing the body, but salt is referred to as the “vehicle.” This is because it drives the toxins out of your cells to the bloodstream where it will be eliminated.

By adding Himalayan Salt to your bath water, it will create a detoxifying, rejuvenating and relaxing spa. In order to cleanse the body energetically, draw out toxins and give your skin a deep cleanse, we recommend soaking in the water for at least fifteen minutes.

For a powerful detox, we recommend making your own Himalayan Salt “brine” to put in your bath water. Take 2 pounds of Himalayan Salt and dissolve it in the warm water. This type of bath will make for some intense detoxing. Mind you, some people make their water very hot, and we do not recommend this – warm water will do the trick.

    2. Great for Relaxing

Himalayan salt will help relax not only your muscles, but your mind as well. It contains a unique composition and your body can easily absorb it into the bloodstream. This technique gives your body the opportunity to quickly restore your muscles.

    3. Lowers Blood Pressure

Experts have claimed that high blood pressure is linked to lacking minerals. Himalayan salt contains a high mineral content, so for this reason, it is a good way to lower your blood pressure.

    4. Salt Lamp

Surely, you have heard of Himalayan salt lamps, right? These lamps do much more than put off a soothing glow to the environment. They also help improve the quality of the air by attracting pollutants, making the perfect for home and office use.

When you place a Himalayan Salt Lamp in a room, it can boost your energy level and improve your overall mood. The soft, orange hues are noted for their relaxing color and they also put off some negative ions, which help the body product biochemical reactions that can increase the serotonin levels also known as the “happy hormone.”

    5. Himalayan Salt Ball

Have you ever heard of a Himalayan Salt Ball? They have great antibacterial properties nesting behind them and they do a good job at preventing odor causing bacteria from developing. Many people have been using it as deodorant and a body cleanser, which is a good idea, because it helps to balance out the skin’s pH, without eliminating the natural oils.

Applying the salt ball is easy. Simply dab the salt ball in water, rub it between your hands and apply the salt anywhere you feel has the most odor and sweat, like your feet and underarms.

    6. Himalayan Salt Mortar and Pestle

If you’re looking to add a unique flavor to your food, then cooking with Himalayan crystal salt would be a great idea, plus it will infuse the food with minerals. You could always achieve this by cooking your food over a Himalayan Salt Block, but cleaning up afterward can be a bit of a hassle.

However, a Himalayan Salt mortar and pestle would be ideal for this. You can use the mortar and pestle just as you would a traditional one – you can crush garlic, grind up herbs and spices or make your very own chunky sauce like guacamole. Not only will your foods had added texture and flavor, you’ll also be able to enjoy the health benefits of Himalayan salt. Plus, since it is an anti-microbial, cleaning up afterward will be simple.

    7. Improves Sleep

If you have been having trouble sleeping, you may want to start using Himalayan Salt as soon as possible. Many people have reported improvement in their sleep pattern after using this salt. This is because it helps your body naturally release melatonin and balances the brain chemistry.

9 Reasons to Drink a Tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar Daily

Health benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

Health benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

Each day, we find more and more people that are willing to turn to natural alternatives to the modern medicines. Can we blame them? The modern medicines that have been deemed “safe” are packed full of harmful chemicals and have a wide array of possible side effects. Sure, they may work, but what does it put your body through? We recommend skipping past the pharmacy aisle and grabbing a nice bottle of apple cider vinegar – this is an easy-to-use, simple-to-find and safe, all-natural solution. By no means is it magical and it’s not expensive or hard-to get nor is it a “celebrity-endorsed” product that is skillfully marketed to everyone – it’s an inexpensive product that has many benefits behind it.

A tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar will keep the doctor away. How? Read forward to learn the reasons to drink a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar daily …

    1. Good Source of Polyphenols

Apple Cider Vinegar is a great source of polyphenols. Research indicates that polyphenols play a major role in the prevention of cancers, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s.

    2. Can be used to Treat Heartburn and Acid Reflux

When you have heartburn or acid reflux, one of the main causes is the lack of probiotics and enzymes and an imbalanced stomach pH. Luckily, apple cider vinegar is packed full of all those important nutrients. Take a cup of cold water and add 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, then drink it. We recommend drinking it five minutes before you eat in order to relieve acid reflux.

    3. Regulates Your Body’s pH

Acetic acid can be found in Apple Cider Vinegar – this is acidic in nature, but when you drink it, it has an alkaline effect on your body. Balancing your body’s pH is important because it can help reduce your risk of illnesses like cancer. It can also increase your energy levels.

    4. Can Help You Lose Weight

Yes, consuming Apple Cider Vinegar could help you lose weight and there are numerous reasons for this. One of the reasons is the fact that Apple Cider Vinegar reduces those cravings for sugar and improves detoxification.

For the best results, we recommend consuming Apple Cider Vinegar before meals. When you think about it, this makes perfect sense, because apples are a great source of pectin and pectin is responsible for making us feel fuller. So, why not eat raw apples? There’s good science behind this question …acids aid with the digestion of protein, the building blocks for various hormones like the growth hormone. This hormone does a good job at breaking down fat cells. When you increase the amount of acid in your stomach before each meal, you can rest with the satisfaction of knowing your food will be properly digested.

    5. Stimulates Digestion

Apple Cider Vinegar stimulates digestion and in return, this also helps to reduce the amount of time it takes to digest fats. Allowing food to remain in your intestines for a prolonged period of time can be unhealthy. If fats stay longer than necessary, more fats are going to be absorbed.
At the start of the digestive process, Apple Cider Vinegar stimulates your appetite. Normally, we wouldn’t think this would be the direction to go if we’re trying to lose weight. However, it helps increase our interest in whole foods.

    6. High in Potassium

ACV is high in potassium, so drinking 1 tbsp a day will help balance the sodium you consume. In fact, you should replace salt with ACV. Go ahead and use this solution on foods you would normally put salt in, like vegetables and protein foods. Sprinkling a tiny bit of ACV over beans is something many do throughout America.

    7. Balances Blood Sugar

The acetic acid that is found in ACV can help balance the blood sugar levels and in return, improve insulin responses. Put 1 tbsp of ACV in your water before meals or sprinkle it on your salad.

    8. Improve Heart Health

Along with lowering blood pressure, drinking a tbsp. of Apple Cider Vinegar a day can increase the “good” cholesterol in your body. It is also said that this solution contains chlorogenic acid, which is an antioxidant that protects LDL cholesterol particles from oxidizing – this is a big step in preventing heart disease.

    9. Eliminates the Growth of Candida

By drinking a tbsp. of ACV on a daily basis, it can eliminate candida from your body. Candida causes many health issues, like fatigue, memory loss, depression, headaches, yeast infections and sugar cravings. Yes, this is a yeast that is naturally occurring, but it can easily grow out of control if you eat too much sugar or too many processed foods.

Another Amazing Benefit of Using Apple Cider Vinegar

This doesn’t involve drinking Apple Cider Vinegar, but it does involve putting a tablespoon of it on your hair to make it shine. You can use Apple Cider Vinegar as a conditioner and what’s really amazing is the fact that it can make your hair shine. We suggest taking a bottle (an old shampoo bottle will worK0 and filling it up with 1 cup of water and 1 tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar. Pour this on your hair after you have shampooed it.

Now that you have 9 reasons to drink a tbsp. of Apple Cider Vinegar on a daily basis, are you ready to go out and buy a bottle of it? Mind you, don’t buy just any type of ACV, it is important that you choose a bottle that is non-GMO, organic, raw, unpasteurized and unfiltered.

5 Surprising Health Benefits of Activated Charcoal

    Health benefits of activated charcoal

    Health benefits of activated charcoal

Many claim that activated charcoal, also known as Activated Carbon, can help purify your skin and whiten your teeth, but does it really work? If so, is it safe to use and exactly what is this so called activated charcoal anyways? Activated charcoal is a natural treatment that is used to trap toxins in the body so that they can be flushed out before your body reabsorbs them. While it is made from a variety of different sources, if you plan on using activated charcoal for natural healing, you need to select the type that has been made from coconut shells or another natural source along those lines.

Activated Charcoal is similar to the type we use on the grill, but it doesn’t contain all of those chemicals. This charcoal contains properties that make it effective at absorbing chemicals and poisonous liquids.

So, what are the health benefits of activated charcoal?

    1. Eases Gas and Bloating

Activated charcoal can help ease gas and bloating. Once it is consumed, it binds the gas-causing byproducts (found in foods) that are responsible for the discomfort. Consuming activated charcoal following a gas-producing meal will help prevent intestinal gas.
How much should be taken? Experts suggest taking 500 milligrams with a glass of water at least an hour before you eat. Immediately afterwards, drink another glad of water to flush the charcoal into your system.

    2. Eliminate Stains from Your Teeth

Many of those stain removers you find in the stores are packed full of chemicals that can do more harm than good. If you’re looking for a good whitener to help whiten your teeth, then we recommend Activated Charcoal powder – it will help remove plaque and whiten your teeth at the same time. Mind you, when you use it, it’s not going to be lovely, but once you have completed the system, you’ll be happy you chose this method.

To use it, you don’t need any special toothbrush, you can use a regular one. We would recommend a secondary toothbrush for this purpose because the charcoal could cause discoloration to the bristles.

Take the Activated Charcoal powder and mix it with water until the solution is thick enough to stay on the toothbrush. Take the solution on the toothbrush and gently brush your teeth. Leave the mixture on your teeth for three minutes, then rinse it off.

Some people choose to add a capsule of Activated Charcoal to a natural toothpaste and brush as they normally would. There’s also an option that works without the toothbrush. Take about a teaspoon of powdered charcoal and equal parts water and mix it. Swish this solution around in your mouth for a total of one minute, then hold it in your mouth for five more minutes before you rinse.

You don’t have to worry about the taste of the charcoal, because there is almost no taste and it doesn’t smell. It’s okay to use this method on a daily basis in order to remove the natural discolorations and stains from your teeth.

    3. Detoxifying

Have you ever seen black lemonade specifically for detoxing? It’s black because it contains Activated Charcoal. Many people have reported some pretty good effects after they tried juices that contained this form of charcoal. Medical professionals have stated that it is possible to detox your system with Activated Charcoal.

If you choose this method for detoxifying your body, we recommend drinking this in your juice between meals – don’t take it with meals and only make sure you put it in non-acidic juices. You can empty a couple of capsules into your favorite health boosting juice. There are also various companies that offer juices that contain Activated Charcoal – these juices tend to have high price on them, but they are well worth the cost.

Mind you, drinking Activated Charcoal juices isn’t recommend as a daily drink. You should use them for an occasional detox.

    4. Lowers Your Cholesterol

Studies being conducted throughout the world have indicated that Activated Charcoal can be used to lower cholesterol levels. This is because it increases good cholesterol while it reduces bad cholesterol.

    5. Heal Wounds from Spider and Snake Bites

In cases with venomous or non-venomous spider or snake bites, using Activated Charcoal can be an effective way to eliminate toxins and heal the wounds. Of course, if a venomous spider or snake bites you, you should go to the emergency room right away.

    Side Effects

When it comes to using Activated Charcoal, it is normally deemed safe for most people. However, it is important that you are aware of any medical conditions you may have, like holes in the intestines, intestinal blockages or bleeding, slow digestion, chronic dehydration or recent abdominal surgery because these conditions could affect how your body reacts to the charcoal.

Additionally, activated charcoal can interfere with the prescription medications you may be taking. For this reason, we recommend taking activated charcoal 90 minutes prior to taking prescription medications or supplements.

    Keep in Mind

Don’t buy the first Activated Charcoal you come across based on the name – make sure it comes from a sustainable source like identified wood species or coconut shells. You should also remember that it is dangerous to inhale Activated Charcoal powder (any form of powder is dangerous) – it could result in a condition referred to as “black lung,” so when you’re using it in your DIY projects, be careful.

Avoid fillers: Make sure the product you buy doesn’t contain any fillers in them.
Store them in a tight container: Activated Charcoal can absorb the impurities that are in the air, so it is important that you keep it in a sealed container.

It is advisable to use this lotion if you have noticed that, together with the hair loss, your scalp and hair have become a bit more oily than they usually are; this may indicate a food imbalance (often added to stress, don’t we all eat worse when we are stressed?), so your follicles may be clogged up badly. • Grind the seeds down till they are the size of ground pepper corns.
    • Pour the seeds into the jar and add the coconut oil.
    • Add 10 drops of lavender essential oil, 10 drops of rosemary essential oil and 10drops of Atlantic cedar wood essential oil.
    • Mix well with a spoon.
    • Close the jar and put it in a cold, dry place.

    How to use the lotion:

    • Wash your hair with a lavender or lemon based shampoo, and pat-dry with towel leaving it damp but not wet.
    • Dip your fingers in the jar with the lotion and, starting from the back of your head, massage it with a firm but slow circular movement into your scalp; make sure you feel the grains of grapefruit seeds rubbing against your scalp.
    • Proceed from the nape all the way up to your forehead, scooping more lotion with your fingers as needed.
    • Leave the lotion to rest on your head for about thirty minutes.
    • Wash your head with lukewarm water; make sure you wash it well to clear all the
      grapefruit seed grains.
    • Repeat on a daily basis for at least four weeks.

Having your own essential oil spray to carry with you when you go out is very convenient, as you can put it in your bag and use it anywhere, thus taking care of your hair all day round. The added bonus is that hair sprays are very easy to make. This hair spray will leave your hair incredibly soft to the touch, it will moisturise your hair and, especially if you live in an urban and polluted area, it will make your hair smell nice and fragrant.

You will need a small plastic spray bottle, purified water (2 oz or 60 ml), extra virgin coconut oil (2 tablespoons, or 1 oz or 30 ml), lavender essential oil, grapeseed essential oil and a small funnel.

The procedure is so simple that it will take you only a few minutes:

Scientific studies show that one pomegranate contains three times the amount of antioxidants found in green tea and red wine. In addition, the juice of one fruit contains more antioxidants than the juices of blueberries and grapes.

It’s this high amount of antioxidants, like ellagic acid and anthocyanin that make pomegranate juice great at protecting against heart diseases, diabetes, osteoarthritis, as well as many types of cancer.

One of the most abundant types of antioxidants found in pomegranate juice and the peel is punicalagins, which is responsible for more than half of the antioxidant activity of pomegranate juice.

    Vitamin C

Pomegranates contain nearly 40% of the daily recommended allowance of vitamin C.

    Vitamins A and E

They are also rich in vitamins A and E, making them an abundant source of anti-inflammatory properties and immune-boosting nutrients.

Pomegranates also provide a slew of minerals, such as potassium, calcium, phosphorus, iron, thiamin, folate, and riboflavin

Yes, you get fiber from these ruby red gems too!

    Punicic Acid

They’re also rich infer punicic acid, a type of polyunsaturated fatty acid from the omega family, known for its ability to regenerate and reproduce cells.

    Health Benefits of Pomegranate Juice

    1. Improves Heart Health

Drinking pomegranate juice on a regular basis improves blood flow and has the ability to make blood thinner. This helps keep arteries clear of clots, thus reducing the risk of strokes and heart attacks.

Heart disease is a complicated disease, and sadly enough, is one of the most common causes of premature death in the United States and many parts of the world for both men and women.

Luckily, punicic acid found in pomegranates is the main fatty acid in the jeweled fruit and has been proven to significantly reduce LDL, the “bad” cholesterol levels and improve HDL levels. It also lowers the risk of atherosclerosis, the leading cause of heart disease.

    2. Keeps Blood Sugar Levels in Check

Even though pomegranate juice contains fructose, which is simply fruit sugar, it doesn’t have any negative effects on blood sugar levels, as other types of juices do. Diabetic patients can drink it without having to worry about their blood sugar levels.

As a plus, pomegranate juice can reduce the risk of various coronary diseases. In addition, it reduces the hardening of the arteries, lowering the risk of various heart diseases.

    3. Maintains Blood Pressure

Pomegranates are a natural aspirin, which prevent blood from coagulating or forming blood clots. They also act as a blood thinner which allows for good blood flow through the body.

The red juice excretes free radicals and helps limit the development of cancer cells and other diseases. Since it’s rich in antioxidants, it helps stimulate white blood cells to neutralize toxins in the body which promote a strong, healthy immune system.

    4. Helps the Digestive System And Curbs Hunger

Pomegranate juice has the ability to help the digestive system function normally because of its high amount of dietary fiber, which helps improve digestion, as well as regulating bowel movements. A great way to treat digestion problems, such as diarrhea and dysentery, pomegranate juice plays an important role in the secretion of enzymes, which help the digestive system function properly.

It can also soothe urinary tract infections. This ruby red juice can control thirst, making it great for those hot, summer days. Moreover, as an added bonus, pomegranate juice can help curb your hunger because of its high fiber intake. In addition, since it has no cholesterol or saturated fats, it’s highly recommended for those who want to shed any extra, stubborn pounds.

    5. Boosts The Immune System

Since pomegranate juice has such potent antimicrobial properties, it goes a long way in terms of boosting the immune system.

Moreover, it has the power to ward off microbes and helps decrease the presence of microbes in the mouth that are responsible for cavities and staph infections. This means it does a fantastic job of reducing dental plaque and protects you from various oral diseases.

In addition, pomegranate juice contains a large amount of iron, which helps in restoring the body from any red blood cell deficiency in the body.

    6. Helps Regenerate Cartilage

Acting as an inhibitor on the enzymes responsible for causing damage to the cartilage, pomegranate juice is often recommended for patients suffering from chronic conditions, like osteoarthritis, which is characterized by the breaking down of cartilage in the joints. It helps reduce deterioration of the cartilage, and since it’s an anti-inflammatory, it helps relieve symptoms of arthritis and bone inflammation.

    7. Beneficial During Prenatal Care

Being a terrific source of an abundant amount of vitamins and minerals, such as folic acid, which is essential for a healthy prenatal diet, it’s considered an essential part of any pregnant woman’s diet.

Pomegranate juice maintains a healthy blood flow through the body, and of course, to the fetus to ensure its healthy development. This juice is also high in potassium, which can help prevent and ease leg cramps usually associated with pregnancy.

    8. Reduces The Risk Of Alzheimer’s Disease

The polyphenol known as punicalagin is the most abundant antioxidant in pomegranates, and it is what gives pomegranates their anti-inflammatory powers.

One of its attributes is that it lowers the presence of a specific type of plaque, called amyloid plaque, which builds up between brain’s nerve cells and causes Alzheimer’s disease. Some studies have shown that drinking pomegranate juice has been proven to enhance cognitive functions in general and enhance overall mental performance.

    9. Safeguards Against Cancer

Many studies have been carried out on the components of pomegranate juice and their ability to weaken the chemical signals in the cells, which help in promoting various types of cancer. Moreover, while pomegranates may not be the only cancer-fighting foods out there, they are certainly one of the most capable of killing off and preventing cancer cells from spreading.

While the pomegranate may be the fruit that has it all, there are still some precautions you must be aware of before making it a part of your diet.

    • It’s best to avoid drinking pomegranate juice if you’re suffering from a cold, flu, cough, constipation, or if you have a phlegm condition.
    • If you’re taking any medication that lowers blood pressure, try to reduce your intake of pomegranate juice since it has antioxidants that lower the blood pressure. Therefore, if combined, they could lead to a condition called hypotension, where your blood pressure becomes dangerously low.
    • Pomegranates can also interfere with other types of medications, such as those prescribed to lower blood cholesterol levels, antidepressants, narcotic pain relievers, and AIDS medications. Ask your doctor before using.

    Final Thoughts

The health benefits you get from eating pomegranates and drinking their juice, especially freshly squeezed pomegranate juice are unmatched. So much so that they’ll make you forget all that hassle you have to go through to fish out those red beads behind the peel to make a glass of this bright red, tangy, and smooth juice.
